Known as “The Natural State”, Arkansas is a wonderful place to visit. As well being home to mountains, forests and other natural areas, there are also many exciting and interesting places to visit including a large number of historic sites and museums. Here are some attractions in Arkansas:

1. Alligator Farm and Merman
Want to take a bite out of life? Visit the Alligator Farm and Merman when you go to Arkansas. You will be able to visit with the alligators. Some of the alligators that have been raised on this farm have reached over 12 feet in length, and you have the chance to see them up close and personal in this one in a lifetime exciting attraction.

2. Central High School

This school was a key site during the civil rights struggle. Famously, in 1957, President Eisenhower deployed the 101st Airborne Division to escort nine African-American students into the school. Although still used as a school, the site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a designated National Historic Landmark, and contains a National Historic Site.

3. Tiny Town
If you like all things miniature then you should check out Tiny Town. They have set up a whole town devoted to tiny things. Fun for the whole family awaits you as you look into some of the most bizarre smallest things that the eye has ever seen before. Watch a miniature girl fish in the river with her small fishing pole as you walk through this magical tiny town.

4. Sky Diving
If you want to enjoy a thrill or two then try Little Rock sky diving where you can take your excitement to the extreme. Jump from a plane and free fall to the ground. This will heighten any senses.

5. Fort Smith National Historic Site (in Fort Smith):

See the remains of two frontier forts, and the Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas, where Judge Isaac C. Parker, known as the “Hanging Judge”, served for 21 years.

6. Wild Cave
Go through the twists and turns of the dimly lit Wild Cave. Bring the whole family for fun, enjoyment, and adventure. You will get to go into the undeveloped parts of the cave, crawl on your hands and knees, and be sure to climb steep slopes when it comes down to getting through the cave. You have to be in good physical shape to get through these twists and turns or at least be prepared for the fight.

7. Ozark Military Museum

A museum that preserves aircraft and memorabilia from World War II and other conflicts. The museum is home to a variety of vehicles, 2 flying aircraft and 12 static aircraft.

Looking for a place to kick back and fun? Southwest Arkansas, with its lakes, forests, resorts, parks and museums, is the place.

Hot Springs, among the finest resorts in the United States, is perched east of the Ouachita National Forest, the first national forest in the country. Arkadelphia is home to two universities, and Texarkana straddles the Texas-Arkansas state line.

Here’s a glance at what there is to see and do:

• Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area — Long known for its vicious, jagged rocks that have eaten more than one canoeist and kayaker, the Cossatot River also is surrounded by beautiful terrain. Primitive campsites. South of Mena. Call (870) 385-2201.

• Crater of Diamonds State Park — The only public diamond mine in the world. You keep the diamonds you find. Visitor center exhibits reveal the story of Arkansas’ diamonds. Camping, picnic sites, trail and gift shop. Near Murfreesboro. Call (870) 285-3113.

• Daisy State Park — Water is the key word. Daisy is a perfect camping spot for activities on the Little Missouri River and Lake Greeson. Call (870) 398-4487.

• DeGray Lake Resort State Park — A 96-room lodge is the choice for many meetings and gatherings. There’s also fishing and sailing on the lake, golf and tennis. South of Hot Springs. Call (501) 865-2801.

• Hot Springs Mountain Tower — Ride or climb to the top of this 216-foot tower and enjoy the spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding Ouachita Mountains. Call (501) 623-6035.

• Hot Springs National Park — Arkansas’ only National Park. Noted for its thermal springs, bathhouses, hiking trails and summer interpretive programs. Call (501) 624-3383.

• Lake Catherine State Park — Beautiful lake near Hot Springs. The park also offers cabins, 70 campsites, picnic areas, trails and playgrounds. Call (501) 844-4176.

Arkansas is the only state in the Union that has a state park that has a diamond mine. This is the Crater of Diamonds state park that is open to the public where they can keep any diamonds they find. Every month park visitors walk away with the diamonds they have found. This park is located just south of Murfreesboro, and is well worth a visit.

The gold found in Arkansas is found in roughly the same area as the quartz crystals. You can pan for the gold along the many rivers and creeks that drain out of the central Ouachitas. Most of the gold found will be as fine flakes or grains.

Gold has been known in Arkansas since the days of the Spanish in the 1500s, and there has been more then more then one gold rush centered on the Ouachita Mountains since. The Spanish reportedly even mined gold in Arkansas in their time. The other period of gold mining occurred during the period from 1800 to 1830. It was reported at the time they didn’t find much gold.

Even while gold is scarce there are plenty of other things that you can find prospecting in Arkansas. One of the more interesting minerals is cadmium sulfide found with the lead and zinc ores. It wasn’t too many years ago that Arkansas was the largest producer of Cadmium in the United States.

In order to make any prospecting venture worthwhile is a real good idea to read everything that you can find about the area where you are going. Among the prospectors in Canada there is a saying that more valuable mines are found in the shadow of a preceding mines headframe.

There are even small deposits of turquoise that are associated with copper in the Ouachita Mountains. This is then worked sporadically for its value as a gemstone for making jewelry.

Arkansas is a hidden treasure when it comes to romance, with many couples from the state not even realizing the beautiful spots in their backyard. Planning some romantic destinations in Arkansas will be sure to put a spark into your relationship!

Arkansas is one of the southern United States’ hidden treasures. Full of history, as well as beauty and tranquility, this state offers lovers a wonderful spot for their next weekend trip. If you enjoy the peaceful beauty of a forest, the gentle rush of a stream or burble of a creek, Arkansas offers all of these experiences and more. The city of Little Rock has much to see and do with a great nightlife, and the area around the state’s capital holds many inns and bed and breakfasts to enjoy.

Romantic destinations in Arkansas are extraordinarily easy to find, if you know where to look. One such place is found right within the city limits of Little Rock, at the Empress of Little Rock hotel.

This luxury establishment is rated Four Diamonds by the AAA (American Automobile Association), which designates it as a very posh hotel, indeed. Built in the 1880′s, the Empress strives to offer its guests a trip back in time, by treating them to featherbeds, antiques in all the rooms, and candlelight breakfasts.

Hot Springs, Arkansas, also offers many different resorts and inns that are perfect for your next romantic destinations in Arkansas. Along with these intimate places to stay, you also get the benefit of having the attractions of the town to amuse you during the day.
The Heated Springs that named the town are available for spa luxury and other treatments, and there are also spots surrounding Hot Springs that are perfect for day trips. The mountains in the area are filled with hiking trails, making for a great outdoor activity.

The 1890 Williams House Bed and Breakfast, located in the Hot Springs National Park, is a converted mansion and carriage house that has five guest rooms in the main house and two in the carriage house. The Carriage House rooms are particularly sought after for romance, as they are more secluded – as well as being filled with beautiful antiques and sharing the same amenities such as gourmet breakfasts, air conditioning, and other convenience appliances.

Arkansas is known for their rustic scenery and the in the winter months it becomes even more beautiful. There are numerous outdoor and indoor activities to take advantage of in February whether you are on a family vacation or just looking for something interesting to do.

After a day at the races you may need to head down to the Hot Springs Bath Houses to defrost and relax. The Ouachita Mountain Valley has produced thermal springs for centuries. The waters are thought to heal the body and many people will visit on a regular basis for water therapy. The Fordyce Bathhouse Museum and National Park Visitor Center is a resurrected bathhouse that offers tours of what the bathhouse looked like in the early days as well as provides informational videos on taking the baths. There are several bathhouses available so you can experience the thermal waters firsthand.

The National Park Aquarium in Hot Springs is another great site to visit in February. This Arkansas’ largest fish and reptile exhibit. They have on display a variety of Arkansas fish, saltwater species, and many reptiles. There is even a 90-pound snapping turtle. No trip to Hot Springs is complete without a trip to Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum. The attraction features seven different worlds with 30 settings. The museum is open year round and great for getting out of the cold. You will see everything from celebrities, to royalty, the pope and even Da Vinci’s “Last Supper.” They also have added two exhibits featuring the New York City’s Firefighters during 911 and the late Princess Diana.

To remind us of the Valentine’s Day spirit, don’t forget about the Chocolate Lovers Festival in Eureka Springs. The event is held at The Auditorium and features and art auction, chocolate and Champaign and delicious chocolate delights. There will be chocolate tastings, dipping fountains, wine and “Best Of” chocolate events. Contests include both Professional and Amateur Chocolate contests in sculptures, decorated cakes, chocolate cookies and best chocolate cake recipes. The event is held at the Best Western, Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center.

Arkansas residents interested in becoming an independent claims adjuster working catastrophic claims across the country should strongly consider first obtaining their resident Arkansas adjuster license. Non-residents interested in working claims in Arkansas may be required to obtain this license before being allowed an assignment. Follow these 3 steps to obtain and maintain your adjuster license in Arkansas.

Step 1) Observe the Requirements

Individuals applying for an Arkansas adjuster license must be 18 years of age or older. According to the Arkansas Department of Insurance, if you are a resident of Arkansas you must have “at least one year of experience in claims adjusting or must work under the direct supervision of an Arkansas licensed adjuster for 1 year after licensure to maintain the adjuster license.” Finally, residents must pass an insurance adjuster exam administered by Promissor.

Step 2) Obtain the License

To successfully become a licensed Arkansas adjuster, you will need to fill out and submit the Adjuster Application Form AID-LI-ADJ and accompany it with a $60 licensing fee. Page 5 of the application requires your consent to allow the State Police to conduct a criminal record search and release any results to the Arkansas Insurance Department. This, however, only applies to resident applicants. Arkansas grants reciprocal licensing privileges to non-resident adjusters holding a license in their home state. Unfortunately, if your home state does not require a license to be an adjuster, you must then pass the Arkansas adjuster exam.

Step 3) Maintain the License

Licensed Arkansas adjusters must renew their license once yearly by submitting a renewal application and a $35 renewal fee. There are no Continuing Education requirements mandated by Arkansas for the proper maintenance of the adjuster license.

Summary: Ultimately, residents of Arkansas will want to obtain their resident Arkansas adjuster license – whether you intend to work claims there or not. Independent catastrophic adjusters who work outside the state but have their primary residence in Arkansas should strongly consider obtaining this license. Many states will not allow you to reciprocally obtain their license if you are not licensed in your resident state. This is not your prototypical risk state for disaster, but as it borders the tornado belt, and with frequent hail storms and flooding, non-resident applicant interest should remain stable. For additional licensing information, refer to the complete Arkansas insurance adjuster requirements.

Parents in Arkansas who are involved in a custody situation should learn the laws about custody that will affect them. Knowing these laws can be a great asset to parents, especially as they create a custody agreement and parenting plan. Following the laws when creating the plan can help a mother make the best possible plan for the child, help them work out the proper components, and get the plan accepted by the court. Here is a highlight of some of the laws that affect the agreement.

Chapter 13 Section 101 in Title 9 contains the laws about how the state awards custody. This is an important part of the parenting plan. The state gives no preference because of gender when awarding custody. This means that the father and mother have an equal chance of getting custody of the children, providing that they are both capable custodial parents. The standard for granting custody is what is best for the child. If the parents can work this out before going to court, the judge will respect their wishes. The mother and father figure out the custody arrangement that fulfills the needs of the child and put that in the agreement.

This section also contains a statute that when parents are making a plan, they should the child frequent and continuing contact with both parents. Because of this, the court may award a joint custody agreement when making an order for custody. This also means that when the court is making an order, it is more likely to award custody to the parent that encourages the child to have contact with the other parent.

In Sections 102 and 103, the law makes provisions for other family members to stay involved in a child’s life after the parents separate. Grandparents and siblings can be granted visitation rights to the child. This will happen if there is a close family member to the child, and it is in the child’s best interest to continue a relationship with the person. Parents should consider this as they make their parenting plan. They should make a plan that allows for the child to see and visit with other family members.

Once the court has made a custody order of the agreement, it is a legal document. The state takes custody orders very seriously, and there are consequences for the parent who disregards them. If parent wants to make a change to the plan, they should file a motion with the court and present the modification. The modification will be judged according to how it benefits the child.
